The newly appointed chief executive of Crown Perth has promised to spearhead the recovery strategy.
David Tsai, previously the head of MGM Resorts International, has vowed to guide the revitalization and reorganization plan for Crown Perth following his assumption of the CEO position at the casino.
Tsai boasts nearly two decades of experience in managing integrated resorts, having spent over fifteen years at MGM Resorts International.
In his new position, Tsai will direct Crown Perth’s restructuring plan and collaborate with newly assigned independent overseer Paul Steel to carry out the recommendations of the Perth Casino Royal Commission earlier this year.
This appointment follows the commitment of private equity firm Blackstone to operate “according to the highest standards of adherence, administration, and honesty” after its acquisition of Australian gambling conglomerate Crown Resorts Limited in July.
Crown Inquiry
In February 2021, Crown was deemed unfit to operate a casino in Sydney’s Barangaroo after an investigation uncovered money laundering activities at its establishments.
Later that year, Crown was also deemed unfit to operate a casino in Victoria, with an investigation concluding that Crown had engaged in “illegitimate, dishonest, unethical, and exploitative” behavior.
Crown Resorts’ chief executive, CiarĂ¡n Carruthers, stated: “David is the ideal individual to guide Crown Perth into its next phase and to assume the role of chief executive at this pivotal juncture in its history.
“David’s zeal for driving genuine cultural transformation will have a significant impact, and I am thrilled to collaborate with him and the Crown Perth team to craft exceptional experiences for our Western Australian patrons.”
Cai remarked: “Crown Perth is renowned throughout the industry for its first-rate hotels, top-tier restaurants, opulent accommodations, and outstanding entertainment choices.
“I am committed to executing our reform and remediation plan and cultural metamorphosis, and ensuring Crown attains its objective of becoming a global leader in safe and accountable gaming and entertainment.
“I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead the more than 6,000 team members at Crown Perth and to share their comprehension and passion for creating extraordinary experiences for our guests.”
