The Massachusetts Gaming Authority (MGA) has granted Penn Sports Interactive and their Barstool brand a sports wagering permit, but with certain stipulations. They must collaborate with an inquiry.
The verdict was reached after numerous discussions between Penn representatives and the MGA. During these deliberations, the commissioners questioned Barstool operators about a wide range of matters. They were concerned about the Barstool brand and its contentious founder, David Portnoy.
Specifically, they inquired about the connection between Barstool Sports, a media enterprise established by Portnoy, and Barstool Sportsbook, the betting platform owned by Penn.
