Wayne Carey, a celebrated Australian Rules Football legend, is publicly criticizing Crown Casino in Perth after being escorted out for possessing a white substance.
The previous week, Carey purportedly dropped a small bag holding a white powder. The former athlete insists that the material was not against the law.
The 51-year-old clarified that the powder was actually anti-inflammatory medicine that he has been using to alleviate pain. He further asserts that he presented the powder to the casino staff as soon as it slipped from his pocket.
“Let me be unambiguous — there were no illicit substances involved,” Carey stated. “I am let down by the course of events.”
“(Crown) had a couple of chances to contact law enforcement, they should have contacted law enforcement right away. If there was any unlawful activity they would have been in touch with the police immediately.”
Crown Resorts’ recently appointed CEO, Ciaran Carruthers, disputes Carey’s account. Carruthers informed the press that the AFL icon’s narrative does not align with reports from Crown personnel.
“Any guest that our team perceives as inebriated or acting erratically — they’re presented with the choice to depart,” Carruthers said.
“My comprehension is that they were unaware of his identity at the time. It was simply a guest, conducting transactions on the gaming floor.”
“(Employees) observed the bag falling out with bills and notified their gaming supervisor.”
He forgot his belongings, and the subsequent events remain a mystery to me.
Attorneys in Kerry are investigating a potential discrimination case on behalf of their client, while local law enforcement head, Blanche, stated yesterday that the gambling establishment should have alerted authorities when the incident occurred.
